FSC and PEFC
Hastings Printing Co Ltd is committed to purchasing paper responsibly from well managed sources. To achieve this we have obtained certification from recognized bodies, being FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement Forest Certification Schemes).
Where possible, we try to use FSC and PEFC papers and will encourage our customers to request the use of the same. This ensures that we are buying from responsible suppliers and to ensure that we have traceability of paper back to the original pulp/forests used in the making of the material. These measures ensure that HPC is supporting responsible forestry.
We work with both standards to help maintain a chain of custody, this includes the following:
- A written system of controls.
- Controlled paper use (i.e. certified paper cannot be mixed with uncertified paper).
- Well maintained labeling and documentation.
- Correct paper information stated on all paperwork.
- Quantity reconciliation.
- Auditing to ensure controls are in place and working.
